I have a studio / Gallery in the heart of Denver's Santa-Fe arts district which has a very popular First Friday Arts walk. Often I will take advantage of this situation by setting up a unique scene and asking people to pose for me, I call it the Portrait Parade.

I really enjoy letting my subjects interpret and inhabit the scene I build and allowing them to create their own characters, stories and meaning from the props and backgrounds I provide. What I like most about the Portrait Parade is how collaborative it is. I give little direction but make every attempt to have my subjects comfortable and open and together we create fun and unique portraits. The photos never turn out as I expect but by letting my subjects inhabit the scene, and taking what they give me, together we produce images much better than anything I could have on my own.
